EMRS COVID-19 Response

The Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security (EMRS) has initiated several programs and offered resources to help first responders, healthcare workers, suburban municipalities and residents respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Alternative Housing Program

Alternative housing and respite housing for first responders and others who are recovering from COVID-19 and need to self-isolate outside of a healthcare facility.

Communications and Community Outreach

Cook County offers text alerts, a hotline and email for questions and information on COVID-19.

Donation Initiative and Personal Protective Equipment Distribution

EMRS has distributed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to municipalities and first responders throughout Cook County.

Employer FAQ for COVID-19

Cook County Department of Public Health has collected answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for employers from our health department, as well as local, state and federal agencies.

Guidance on the Use of Masks

Frequently asked questions and information on the use of masks, care for masks, and how to make your own mask to comply with the executive orders from the State of Illinois.

Mental Health Resources for First Responders

The Josselyn Center is offering free mental health resources for first responders.

N95 Mask Decontamination

EMRS is helping healthcare facilities and workers decontaminate N95 masks to extend their use.
