Cooling Centers Open Across Cook County During Excessive Heat Watch

News Date:
Friday, Jun 15, 2018 - 05:00

Temperatures throughout Cook County are expected to rise into the 90s from Saturday into Monday, with heat indices of 100 to 105 degrees. The County’s Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) reminds residents to take extra precautions during this heat wave.

  • Drink plenty of fluids
  • Try to stay in the shade or indoors as much as possible
  • Check on elderly neighbors and those with functional needs
  • Take pets indoors and make sure they have plenty of water

Residents who do not have access to air conditioning are encouraged to take advantage of cooling centers throughout Cook County.

The list of cooling centers is also available on the DHSEM website http://cookcountyhomelandsecurity.org/cook-county-cooling-centers.
