Cook County Information Security Office Wins Cybersecurity Leadership and Innovation Award

The Center for Digital Government presented the Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management's Information Security Office (ISO) with a 2016 Cybersecurity Leadership and Innovation Award. 

The annual award recognizes the cybersecurity-related contributions of state and local government, education and healthcare organizations and leaders. Winners are evaluated on creativity and leadership, the utilization of technology to achieve results and the impact of those efforts. Cook County received top honors for formalizing cyber law and policy by championing ordinance adoption. The ISO’s information-sharing threat intelligence platform, known as the Cook County Cyber Threat Intelligence Grid (CCCTIG), is available to more than 130 municipalities. The platform is designed with the intent that cyber threat intelligence can be shared quickly, collaborated on and integrated with various cybersecurity technologies. 

“The County has made significant enhancements over the past three years to build a nationwide model for local government institutions,” Ricardo Lafosse, Chief Information Security Officer, said. “We model our program on people, process and technology through risk-based intelligent decisions and automation.”
