Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program Applications Now Open

The Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) encourages local law enforcement agencies and nonprofit organizations to apply for the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. Through grant opportunities like these, the DHSEM seeks to build our capacity to act as a resource to first responders and local jurisdictions within Cook County.

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program helps support a range of program areas and funding may be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, strategic planning, research and evaluation, data collections, training, personnel, equipment, forensic laboratories, supplies, contractual support or criminal justice information systems. The JAG program will provide a total of $1,046,748 to eligible applicants within Cook County. 

“This grant program will ensure that Cook County has the resources it needs to protect and serve its communities,” said Ernest Brown, executive director of the DHSEM.

Completed applications must be submitted no later than 5:00PM CST on October 16, 2016. All applications must be submitted via email to steven.burris@cookcountyil.gov. Funding announcements will be made no later than October 31, 2016.
